Holes/Cutouts/Notches

Holes:

The diameter of a hole must be equal to/greater than the thickness of the glass.

  • The edge of a hole must be located a distance equal to/greater than 1.5 x the thickness of the panel, from the edge of the glass.
  • A corner hole must be positioned a distance equal to/greater than 4 x the thickness of the glass, from the corner edge. The distance is increased if the corner is rounded.
  • The distance between adjacent holes must be equal to/greater than 4 times the thickness of the glass.
  • There is a -0/+1mm tolerance on holes up to 25mm in diameter.
  • There is a positional tolerance of +/- 1.5mm on all holes.
  • All holes will have a ground finish with an arris.

 Cut-outs:

  • All cut-outs should be discussed with our sales team before point of order.

The following rules are for toughened glass.

  • The corners of rectangular cut-outs must have a radius equal to/greater than the thickness of the glass.
  • The width of a cut-out cannot be greater than a third of the overall panel width.
  • Larger cut-outs must be positioned a distance equal to/greater than a third of the overall width of the panel from the outside edge.
  • There is a tolerance on cut-outs of -0/+2mm.
  • There is a positional tolerance of +/2mm for all cut-outs.
  • All cut-outs will have a ground finish with an arris.

 Notches:

  •  All notches should be discussed with our sales team before point of order.

The following rules are for toughened glass.

  • Internal corners of notches must have a minimum radius equal to/greater than the thickness of the glass.
  • The width of a notch must be no greater than a third of the overall width of the panel.
